All On Four Implants in Costa Rica

The All-On-Four Dental Implant technique is a prosthetic and surgical procedure that involves the application of a twelve teeth (bridge) fixed in the jaw (dental prosthesis), based on 4 titanium or gold implants. The technique is permanent, screw-retained and may be performed as a same-day replacement for the entire lower or upper set of teeth.

Titanium vs. Gold Implants

Titanium – is placed when the jaw has natural teeth, a bridge or a denture. Mostly, when the abutment is made of the titanium, the crown placed is made of porcelain. The advantage of Porcelain-fused-to-titanium crowns with a porcelain collar won’t bare the titanium margin at the gum line when the gums recede.

Gold –a gold abutment is advised for patients with strong bites. Porcelain-fused-to-gold crowns with a porcelain collar may also eliminate the gold margin.

The All-On-4 Procedure involves:

1. Tooth or teeth Extraction. (If deemed necessary).
2. Implant insertion. Placement of four dental implants may be performed immediately.
3. Placement of temporary crowns.
4. Placement of permanent crowns. Once the healing period is over usually after 3-6 months, and osseointegration has taken place, the permanent fixed bridge is placed.

How to Find the Right Dentist in Mexico

First-time tourists who walked across the US-Mexico border to Los Algodones are startled to be surrounded by salesmen who screamed they had the best deal in town. They seem to act as “barkers” in marketplaces howling the selling prices of their goods. You may be surprised that they are actually selling the best prices for root canals and other dental procedures, not fruits and vegetables!

Stiff competition and possible commission (from every patient) prompted these “barkers” to persuade tourists to their clinics. Although they can be persuasive, (as they can knock 10-20% off the price of any procedure,) it is advisable that you do your own research if you want less expenses and a “toothsome” experience.

Researching for the best or top dentist in a foreign destination can be tedious and worrisome at the same time.
